2013 West Cape Howe Tempranillo Notches up its Second Trophy!

Out of a blind tasting of approximately 200 wines, the selection of the West Cape Howe 2013 Tempranillo for this Trophy illustrates what a stunning example it is of this Spanish variety that is being produced so successfully in Australia.

The 2013 West Cape Howe Tempranillo also received a Trophy at the Perth Royal Wine Show 2014 for BEST DRY RED VARIETAL in Class 55.

Managing Director and Winemaker Gavin Berry said, 'We're thrilled with the success of our 2013 Tempranillo; of all the 'alternative' varieties we see come through the winery, it's almost always the stand out. It's a wine we love making as we get to play around with the excellent parcels of fruit from both the Perth Hills and Frankland, both areas clearly suited to this variety. It's also a very food friendly wine and it's a style we love to drink! My congratulations go to the guys in the vineyards and the team here at the winery."

West Cape Howe - Out and About in Copenhagen!

Our distributor, Henrik from Vesterstroem Wine in Denmark took this pic at an outdoor event held at a winery last weekend in Copenhagen.  The Tasting involved 25 wineries and participants said they loved our wines and were by far the best in the show!

Thank you Henrik!

It's Gavin Berry's 25th Vintage!

"After moving to the Great Southern in the late '80's for what was expected to be perhaps a two year stint, I am now in the midst of my 25th vintage!  All because I haven't found anywhere else that delivers what the Great Southern can; an ideal region for viticulture and winemaking, producing a wide range of varieties and wine styles (especially Riesling, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc).  It is a region that offers a great lifestyle as well!" Gavin Berry

Please join with everyone at West Cape Howe in congratulating Gavin on his wonderful achievement!
